Britain's Katie Boulter secured a dominant 6-3 6-1 victory against home favourite Himeno Sakatsume in her rain-affected first-round match at the Japan Open. The contest, which began on Monday, was halted due to bad weather in Osaka with Boulter leading a set and 3-1.
The 30-year-old completed her win on Tuesday, expressing satisfaction with her performance. Boulter converted five of nine break points during the match, while Sakatsume managed to take only one of 13 break point opportunities.
Boulter is now set to face Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic in the second round of the tournament.
