Paris St-Germain and Barcelona, currently the top two teams in this season's Champions League league phase, are scheduled to face each other today. PSG leads Barcelona on goals scored, with both teams having netted more goals than any other side this term.
The two clubs have a history of high-stakes encounters, with PSG securing a 2-1 victory in their last Champions League meeting at this stage. PSG has also won the last two Champions League titles, beating Barcelona in the quarter-finals three seasons ago during their first of two successive triumphs.
Both teams boast impressive attacking records. Since the start of the 2025 Club World Cup, Barcelona ranks second and PSG third for most goals scored per match among clubs in Europe's top five leagues, with Bayern Munich leading both. Barcelona has scored 192 goals in 68 games, averaging 2.82 per match, while PSG has netted 154 goals in 67 games, at 2.3 per outing.
The individual talent on display is also notable, with eight players from PSG or Barcelona featuring in the top 14 of the 2025 Ballon d'Or list. Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha from PSG finished first and third respectively, with Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal placing second. The upcoming 2026 Ballon d'Or list is expected to see a similar trend, with 13 of the 30 nominated players from the two clubs, and Lamine Yamal, who has eight La Liga goals this season, among the favourites.
