Residents in Bourne, Lincolnshire, have expressed being "gobsmacked" after learning a significant water leak, which has been ongoing for at least four months, may not be repaired until November.

The leak, located on a footpath by the A151, has resulted in a "consistent" flow of water into a woodland. Mark Kelby, a Bourne resident, stated he has been aware of the leak for at least four months, noting that the water has sometimes been deep enough to come over his walking boots.

Mr Kelby said he was "gobsmacked" when Anglian Water informed him the fix might not occur until November, citing the need for night work and potential road closure. Lincolnshire county councillor Sue Wooley highlighted that residents have received varying repair dates from Anglian Water, ranging from 19 August to November.

Anglian Water has stated it prioritises leaks based on their impact on customer water supplies and the volume of water lost. The company also mentioned it has 245 employees dedicated to finding and fixing leaks.

Why this matters: The ongoing water leak is occurring during a period of hosepipe bans and water shortages, raising concerns among residents about water conservation.
