A three-year-old boy, who sustained serious injuries in a crocodile enclosure attack, has been discharged from hospital and is now back home with his family. The family stated in an online update that he returned home "a few weeks ago" and is "happy to be home, playing with his toys, sleeping in his own bed and being a big brother."
The incident occurred on 18 June when the boy was visiting Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. He was attacked by at least one of the animals.
His family confirmed that he underwent seven operations and is now focusing on rehabilitation at home. They attend the hospital frequently to determine the next steps for his recovery.
Cambridgeshire Police arrested a 30-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident. He was released on bail until 18 September and was assessed as not being fit for interview.
A fundraising page set up to support the family has raised over £113,000. The family plans to donate some of the money to the paediatric intensive care unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Sick Children's Trust charity, as well as the Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT).
