David Claridge, a 79-year-old man from Bracknell, Berkshire, reported finding a three-foot (0.9m) long grass snake in his downstairs toilet on Tuesday morning. Mr Claridge said he initially saw something yellow and black protruding from the bowl after lifting the lid.
He used a pair of barbecue tongs to remove the reptile from his property. Mr Claridge stated he was not frightened after concluding the snake was not poisonous, and carried it into his garden where it then departed.
Mr Claridge believes the snake entered his home via the drainage system, potentially seeking water during recent hot weather. He suggested the toilet's drain may be connected to a rainwater drain, providing a route for the snake.
