A woman has pleaded not guilty to arson charges after a significant moorland fire in Greater Manchester. Shania Care-Slede appeared via videolink at Minshull Street Crown Court and denied two charges of arson.
The fire broke out near Dovestone Reservoir, in Greenfield, Saddleworth, on 11 July. It took more than three weeks to extinguish the blaze, and the reservoir reopened to the public on Thursday.
Ms Care-Slede, 20, admitted a further charge of dangerous driving. She will face a trial for the arson charges in May 2027 and will be sentenced for the driving offence on 29 September. The court heard that four other suspects have been arrested and interviewed in connection with the fire.
