Brandon Flowers, frontman of The Killers, unveiled new solo material and collaborated with other artists at the Newport Folk Festival. During his own set on Sunday, July 26, Flowers gave three tracks from his forthcoming third solo album, 'Thrasher', their live debut.

The new songs performed included 'Paradise', 'Plans', and the previously unheard 'Tiger's Blood'. His set also featured stripped-back versions of Killers classics such as 'Read My Mind' and 'When You Were Young'.

Flowers also made two guest appearances at the festival. On Friday, July 24, he joined Lucy Dacus for a cover of Jim Croce's 'Time In A Bottle'. He later returned on Sunday to perform with Nathaniel Rateliff, covering Bruce Springsteen's 'Atlantic City', John Prine's 'Paradise', and The Band's 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down'.

'Thrasher' is scheduled for release on August 21 through Island Records. The album is described as drawing on Flowers' childhood in Nephi, Utah, and the country music his father listened to.

What this means for you: If you are a fan of Brandon Flowers or The Killers, you can anticipate new solo music with the release of 'Thrasher' on August 21 and potential tour dates in the UK and Ireland later this year.
