The British Consulate General Hong Kong (BCG Hong Kong) has announced an invitation for funding proposals for projects aimed at strengthening UK-Hong Kong collaboration. The programme seeks high-quality, evidence-based projects to support informed policy development, engagement, and activities, drawing on specialist expertise and stakeholder networks.
Three distinct funding opportunities have been launched. These include the Hong Kong Open Societies Fund 2026 to 2027, which focuses on improving UK understanding of civil society and social developments in Hong Kong. Another opportunity seeks proposals to enhance understanding of factors shaping confidence in Hong Kong’s commercial legal environment and its role as an international financial and business centre. The third opportunity is for proposals supporting understanding of economic, commercial, and investment opportunities relevant to UK-Hong Kong economic collaboration and UK prosperity objectives.
Individual projects are typically expected to receive funding between £30,000 and £50,000, subject to proposal quality and fund availability. Projects are anticipated to commence from September 2026 and conclude by March 2027. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organisations, universities, research institutes, think tanks, and professional associations. Applications must be submitted by 17 August 2026.
