British No 1 Arthur Fery has received a call-up as a Team Europe alternate for this weekend's Laver Cup in London. The 24-year-old will act as a back-up to Yannick Noah's six-player team at The O2.
Fery, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in July and captained the British side to a Davis Cup win against Ecuador, will train with the team. He is prepared to step in should any injuries or withdrawals occur.
The Team Europe line-up includes Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Flavio Cobolli, Rafael Jodar, Jakub Mensik and Casper Ruud. Fery expressed his pride, stating, "It's an honour to be part of Team Europe at Laver Cup, especially here at home in London."
Team World has also named Peruvian player Ignacio Buse as an alternate, backing up Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Brandon Nakashima, Alexander Bublik, Learner Tien and Francisco Cerundolo. This week's event is the ninth Laver Cup since its 2017 debut.
