England cricketer Brydon Carse has been charged by the Cricket Regulator in connection with an incident outside a Derby nightclub. The pace bowler was arrested and then de-arrested in the early hours of 23 August, with a subsequent police investigation into assault allegations closed without action.
On Friday, the Regulator confirmed Carse has been charged with breaching the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) professional conduct regulations. The matter will now be referred to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel for adjudication.
Carse is alleged to have breached regulation 3.2, which prohibits conduct that is improper or prejudicial to cricket's interests, or that may bring the ECB or the game into disrepute. Despite the charge, Carse remains available for England selection, and his two-year central contract, expiring in autumn 2027, has not been altered.
The ECB stated it is aware of the charge and that Carse will have the opportunity to respond through the established process. Carse was dropped from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan following the Derby controversy and was not included in the squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Pakistan.
