England seam bowler Brydon Carse has been dropped from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan after being handcuffed by police outside a nightclub. The incident occurred following Durham’s County Championship victory over Derbyshire.
The 31-year-old is now under investigation by the Cricket Regulator. An ECB statement confirmed, "Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained."
Sonny Baker has been named as Carse's replacement in the 16-man squad. Carse had not been included in England's XI for the first Test at Headingley and had not featured in Test cricket for England since the Ashes due to a hand injury.
The incident has brought renewed attention to England's team following other alcohol-related events in recent months involving players such as Ben Stokes, Gus Atkinson, and Harry Brook. The second Test is set to commence on Thursday.
