Brydon Carse has been omitted from the England squad for the third Test against Pakistan, with the Cricket Regulator continuing its investigation into an incident at a Derby nightclub. Carse was previously stood down ahead of the second Test after being arrested and then de-arrested on the Saturday before the match.
Derbyshire Police confirmed they are looking into an allegation of assault from that night. The extent of Carse's involvement in any alleged incident is not known.
Sonny Baker retains his place in the squad as seam bowling cover, alongside Sam Cook, while Matthew Fisher has been released. Ollie Pope remains the spare batter and Shoaib Bashir is included as a specialist spin option. Interim head coach Marcus Trescothick indicated a desire to win the series 3-0 and suggested an unchanged team was a possibility for the match at Edgbaston, which begins on Wednesday, 9 September.
