The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Sri Lanka will no longer host the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy next year. The tournament has been relocated to India.
Sri Lanka was stripped of the hosting rights due to ongoing issues concerning its national board and government interference. The ICC stated that Sri Lanka Cricket is continuing "to make the requisite reforms" as outlined at the global governing body's annual conference in July.
India was ratified by the ICC board as the replacement host, with matches scheduled to take place in Mumbai and Vadodara. Bangladesh and South Africa had also expressed interest in staging the event. The six teams participating in the T20 tournament will be Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, based on their rankings at the 6 July qualification cut-off date.
