England fast bowler Brydon Carse will not face any charges after Derbyshire police dropped an investigation into an alleged assault in Derby city centre last month. Carse had been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly during a night out with his Durham teammates.

Images circulated on social media on Sunday 23 August showed Carse in handcuffs. Derbyshire police later confirmed a man in his 30s had been arrested outside Molly Malone’s bar on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, but was de-arrested shortly afterwards after agreeing to leave the area.

Police subsequently stated they were investigating allegations of an assault in Derby city centre. However, the matter is now closed, with no action to be taken by the police.

Carse will now face a further investigation from the Cricket Regulator to determine if he will face any disciplinary action from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
