Buckingham Palace has stated it will not fund Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's legal action against Thames Valley Police. Mountbatten-Windsor has been warned not to use the King's private money, including his annual stipend, for this purpose.
The former Duke of York is attempting to quash search warrants that led to his arrest earlier this year. A private High Court hearing on this matter is scheduled for Thursday at 2pm before Mr Justice Hilliard.
Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on 19 February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, following allegations of sharing sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a UK trade envoy. Police subsequently searched his residence on the Sandringham estate and his former Windsor home, Royal Lodge.
A judicial spokesperson confirmed the upcoming hearing would also address an attempt by Thames Valley Police to restrict access to court documents. It is not known if Mountbatten-Windsor will attend.
