The game saw a crucial two-play sequence where Allen, with 1:48 left and the Bills trailing 31-30, threw a desperation pass into the end zone. After a dropped interception by Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter, Allen connected with receiver Joshua Palmer for a 34-yard touchdown pass.

Elsewhere in the league, the Chicago Bears made franchise history by scoring 59 points in their 59-37 victory over the Carolina Panthers. This marked their highest-scoring season opener and contributed to the highest-scoring season opener in NFL history, surpassing the 88 points set in 2018.

Derrick Henry, running back for the Baltimore Ravens, had a historic day in their 41-23 win against the Indianapolis Colts. Henry carried the ball 24 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns, passing Marcus Allen on the NFL's all-time rushing touchdowns list with 125. The New York Jets also showed an improved performance in their 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans.
