Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden was sent off for violent conduct during the Manchester derby, an incident that could sideline him for approximately a month. The expulsion occurred after Foden kicked out at Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
The red card will result in Foden missing the Carabao Cup tie against Norwich, as well as Premier League matches against Sunderland and Liverpool. Including the four England international games he was not expected to be selected for, this means Foden will not play again for a month.
The incident comes amidst a prolonged goal drought for Foden, who has not scored in 35 games. His last goal was in 2025, and he has had an extended barren spell since scoring 27 goals in the 2023-24 season.
