Ascot's British Champions Day on Saturday, 17 October 2026, marks the final major Flat season event. Calandagan, trained by Francis Henri-Graffard, is expected to contend for the Group One Champion Stakes (4.00pm) for a second year.
The five-year-old previously won the Champion Stakes by more than two lengths against Ombudsman. The ground at Ascot is anticipated to be on the slow side of good, which Calandagan proved capable of handling last year.
In the Group One British Champions Sprint Stakes (2.05pm), William Haggas's Almeraq is a strong contender. This race has a history of unexpected results, including a 200/1 winner 12 months ago.
Kalpana, trained by Andrew Balding, will seek to defend her Group One British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (2.40pm) title.
