Following a study that indicated the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (Ulez) in London improved lung size and function in children, a correspondent has called for air-quality monitoring in all UK schools. Lorna Henderson from Newcastle upon Tyne, writing to the Guardian, questioned why Ofsted or the Department for Education (DfE) do not require air-quality monitors and data for each school.
The letter suggests that providing this data would make parents aware of potential risks. The correspondent also proposed extending the Ulez philosophy to other UK cities to save lives, highlighting the importance of clean air.
