Camille Cottin, the 47-year-old French actress globally recognised for her role as Andréa Martel in 'Call My Agent!', is currently juggling promotion for three projects. Her coming-of-age comedy, 'Just an Illusion', arrives in UK and Irish cinemas this week.
In 'Just an Illusion', Cottin portrays Sandrine, a restless mother to an 11-year-old boy named Vincent, growing up in suburban Paris in the late 1980s. The film explores Sandrine's desire for a life beyond domesticity, mirroring her son's journey of self-actualisation.
Cottin is also promoting a film adaptation of 'Les Misérables' and a film version of 'Call My Agent!' on Netflix. The original 'Call My Agent!' series, which ended as it gained international popularity, saw a resurgence during Covid-19 lockdowns, prompting producers to consider its continuation.
Before her global fame, Cottin was known in France for the hidden camera comedy series 'Connasse', where she played obnoxious characters. She recounted being heckled in public with the show's title for years, and was once arrested for attempting to climb the gates of Kensington Palace for the film version of 'Connasse'.
