Team Wales captain Olivia Breen has soared to gold in the T38 long jump final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Breen secured her country's sixth gold medal with a wind-legal jump of 5.03m in the second round at the Scotstoun Stadium.
This victory marks Breen's second medal of the current Games, following her silver in the T38 100m final on Monday night. It also sees her successfully defend the long jump title she claimed at the Gold Coast Games in 2018, an event that was not featured at Birmingham 2022.
Australia's Layla Sharp took silver, just three centimetres behind Breen's best with a jump of 5.06m, while 15-year-old Ayla Kowalczyk, also from Australia, earned the bronze. Breen's gold was one of three for Wales on the day, with Anna Morris and Emma Finucane also winning titles in cycling events.
