Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua's heavyweight boxing clash in Cardiff is planned for a 1am ring walk, according to an application submitted to Cardiff Council. The Principality Stadium is set to host the bout on Friday, December 11, with the main event scheduled for the early hours of Saturday morning.
Millennium Stadium plc has applied for a one-off extension to its premises licence. This would allow boxing and wrestling entertainment until 3am, live music immediately before the ring walk, and recorded music, late-night refreshment, and alcohol supply until 3am on December 12. The stadium would then close at 3:30am.
These timings are reportedly designed to suit peak viewing times in the United States. The application also states that the stadium roof will be shut, and enhanced security and stewarding will be in place.
The public and other authorities have until November 3 to make objections or comments in support of the application. If no relevant representations are received, the council must grant the application. However, if objections are made, a council hearing will be held, which could lead to modifications or refusal of the application.
