Carmouche shaves head to make weight for PFL flyweight title fight

MMA veteran Liz Carmouche resorted to shaving her head to successfully make the 125lb weight limit for her PFL flyweight world title fight in Chicago.

  • Liz Carmouche shaved her head to make weight for her PFL flyweight world title fight against Jena Bishop.
  • The fight is a rematch of their 2025 encounter, which Carmouche won by third-round knockout.
  • Carmouche, 42, has no plans to retire and intends to fight Dakota Ditcheva next if she wins the title.

Liz Carmouche, the MMA veteran, took drastic measures to ensure she made weight for her PFL flyweight world title fight against Jena Bishop in Chicago. The 42-year-old had her head shaved with electric clippers just before stepping on the scales to meet the 125lb limit.

Despite the last-minute haircut, Carmouche was reportedly all smiles as she weighed in. Her opponent, Jena Bishop, came in just under the limit without issue. Carmouche had previously described flyweight as a "crazy cut" for her, noting that her bone density increases her weight.

This championship bout is a rematch of their 2025 fight, where Carmouche secured a third-round knockout victory. Carmouche, a former Bellator flyweight champion, has a PFL record of six wins and one defeat since her 2024 debut. Bishop, 40, has three losses in eight PFL fights.

Carmouche, who made her MMA debut in 2010, stated she has no plans to retire. She intends to fight Briton Dakota Ditcheva next, provided Ditcheva recovers from surgery and Carmouche captures the title on Friday. Carmouche believes a March fight would allow Ditcheva sufficient recovery time.
