Celebrity Traitors faces leaks and rule breaches from 2026 cast

The 2026 cast of Celebrity Traitors has reportedly caused issues for the BBC, with contestants revealing plot twists and breaching commercial guidelines.

  • Richard E Grant reportedly revealed he was a Traitor in a June radio interview, prior to the show's broadcast.
  • James Blunt removed a social media post that violated BBC guidelines on commercial activity.
  • BBC bosses are reportedly concerned about leaks regarding the identities of this year’s finalists.

The 2026 series of Celebrity Traitors is reportedly facing challenges with its cast, as contestants have been accused of revealing plot twists and breaching BBC rules.

Richard E Grant reportedly disclosed he was a Traitor during a live BBC Radio 6 Music interview in June, before the first episode aired. Hosts Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie stated on their Saturday show that Grant had made the admission, which was subsequently removed from on-demand versions of the broadcast. Grant had also told fellow contestants he was a Traitor shortly after being chosen by host Claudia Winkleman, leading to his early banishment.

Separately, James Blunt removed a social media post after violating the BBC's guidelines on commercial activity. The singer had shared a still from an episode on Instagram, featuring him in a suit and including a link to a clothing brand's social media account, with both BBC and Celebrity Traitors logos visible. A BBC spokesperson confirmed that clear guidelines are in place regarding commercial activity and that players have been reminded of these rules, with the posts in question having been taken down.

BBC bosses are also reportedly concerned about the identities of this year's finalists being leaked within showbiz circles. Banished contestant Julie Hesmondhalgh stated she removed herself from a cast WhatsApp group after discussions about the winner began. Reports suggest celebrities could face a £100,000 fine for breaching non-disclosure agreements.
