The Celtic Challenge is set to kick off its 2026-27 season with an exciting new incentive: the final will be played at the home ground of the highest-ranked team. This shift moves away from the previous format of neutral venues, adding an extra layer of motivation for the competing clubs from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
The cross-border competition, which includes two clubs from each nation, is scheduled to begin on Saturday, 5 December. Teams will play five home and away fixtures during the regular season, with the top-seeded semi-final winner earning the right to host the final.
Last season, Wolfhounds secured their third consecutive title by defeating Irish rivals Clovers in a final held at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh. The reigning champions, Wolfhounds, will start their 2026-27 campaign at home in Belfast against Welsh side Brython Thunder. Other opening fixtures include Edinburgh travelling to Ireland to face Clovers, and Gwalia Lightning entertaining Glasgow.
