UK video game retailer CeX is reportedly planning to open two new stores dedicated solely to retro physical video games. This information comes from YouTube channel Retro Ghetto, citing unnamed CeX sources.
The first dedicated retro store is reportedly planned for Bull Street in Birmingham city centre, next to an existing CeX outlet. It is claimed the new store could be named either ReX or Retro XChange.
The retro-only CeX store is reportedly intended to open during the festive period this year or at the start of 2027. A second "ReX" store is also reportedly in the pipeline, though its location has not been disclosed.
CeX currently stocks retro games alongside other pre-owned items, but these would be its first stores exclusively for retro physical games. The company, which opened its first store in 1992, now operates nearly 400 outlets in the UK.
