Eugenio Chacarra has clinched his third DP World Tour title of the season at the DP World India Championship, propelling him to the top of the Race to Dubai standings, surpassing Patrick Reed.
The Spaniard began the final round at Delhi Golf Club with a five-shot lead, which he extended to six shots early on. Despite a challenging back nine, Chacarra secured a two-shot victory over Daniel Hillier, carding a 70 for his final round.
Chacarra will now head into the final three events of the season leading the race for the Harry Vardon Trophy. He expressed his ambition to join Spanish golfing legends like Seve Ballesteros and Jon Rahm, stating, “It would mean the world.”
Rory McIlroy, who finished at four under, acknowledged the increased difficulty of his quest for an eighth Race to Dubai title, noting, “Eugenio is playing well. He’s overtaken Patrick. That makes my job a bit harder going into the last two events.”
