Channel 4 is set to cut around 300 jobs, representing about a quarter of its total workforce. This move would mark the largest round of layoffs in the broadcaster's 43-year history, as it aims to significantly reduce costs.
Priya Dogra, who became chief executive in March, is expected to address an all-staff meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will cover a wide-ranging review of Channel 4's strategy and structure.
The broadcaster's headcount had reached 1,276 by 2025. Channel 4 is still finalising the exact number of job losses, but multiple sources indicate that the savings sought equate to approximately 300 to 325 staff roles.
Channel 4 reported a pre-tax loss of £10m last year, following deficits of £12m in 2024 and £52m in 2023. Total revenues decreased by 1% to £1.03bn last year, with advertising revenues falling by 2%.
