A charity in Stone, Staffordshire, has distributed 10,000 beer mats across local pubs to provide mental health support for men. The mats offer information about the Man Time group and other resources for those coping with mental health concerns.
Man Time, led by paramedic Ian Goodship, meets once a week. Goodship stated he was motivated to establish the club after experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and requiring help himself. His father, Pete, and friend, Allan Hall, who also suffered from PTSD and depression, are involved with the group.
Each beer mat includes a QR code that directs individuals to the Man Time website, which also provides links to additional sources of help. Goodship explained that the idea for the mats came from viewing pubs as community spaces where their message could be seen.
