  • Naomi McPherson will miss the start of MUNA's 'Gets So Hot' North American tour.
  • McPherson is caring for her mother, Harriet, who has an aggressive and terminal form of cancer.
  • The band expects McPherson to return for the Philadelphia show on September 25.

Naomi McPherson, who plays guitar, synths, and sings in the band MUNA, will not be present for the initial dates of their North American tour. This decision was made so McPherson can care for her mother, Harriet, who is suffering from an aggressive and terminal form of cancer.

The band confirmed that Harriet's passing is expected to coincide with the beginning of the 'Gets So Hot' tour, which starts tomorrow, Thursday, September 17, in Phoenix. McPherson will remain at home to be with her mother during her final days and to manage affairs after her passing.

MUNA anticipates McPherson's return to the tour for their Philadelphia date on September 25, though they stated they would provide updates if this changes. Lou Roy will step in to perform at the shows McPherson will miss, including those in Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Nashville, and Atlanta.
