Trevoh Chalobah's long tenure with Chelsea is set to conclude as Como has agreed to a deal worth an initial £25.7m for the England World Cup defender. The agreement for Chalobah's departure was finalised on the same day Chelsea completed the signing of Jordan Henderson.
Chalobah, 27, who has been with Chelsea since he was eight, made 105 Premier League appearances. His move to Italy is considered a significant acquisition for Como's head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, who reportedly pushed for the centre-back's transfer. The package includes £5.1m in performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause, generating pure profit for Chelsea.
New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has welcomed Jordan Henderson to the club following his departure from Brentford. The 36-year-old midfielder joined on a free transfer after playing 34 games for the Bees last season. Henderson stated he couldn't turn down the opportunity, citing the club's size, the manager, and the ownership's ambition.
Henderson's career includes 12 seasons at Liverpool, where he captained the team to Champions League victory in 2019 and the Premier League title in 2020. He previously played for Al Ettifaq, Ajax, and Brentford. Henderson is Chelsea's fourth English signing this transfer window, following Morgan Rogers, Danny Welbeck, and Harrison Bettoni.
