Charlton Athletic has been put up for sale by its US owners, just three years after they took control of the club. The ownership group, which is based in the Championship, is understood to have appointed Oakwell Sports Advisory to identify potential buyers.
This sale could mark the fifth change of ownership for Charlton in the past six years. The current owners, Global Football Partners (GFP) led by Gabriel Brener, acquired the club for around £15m in 2023.
A sales deck sent to potential investors by Oakwell describes Charlton as "the last remaining football club upside opportunity in London." It also suggests new owners could see five to 10 times equity growth through potential Premier League promotion, commercial expansion, and investment in women's football.
Under GFP's ownership, Charlton returned to the Championship in 2025 after winning the League One playoff final. Additionally, the women's team was promoted to WSL1 last season.
