Manchester City delivered a commanding performance, securing a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. This win marks Enzo Maresca’s second competitive match in charge, with his side now boasting two wins from two games in the new Premier League season.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City in the 17th minute with a header. Rayan Cherki then added two goals in quick succession in the second half, the first from close range and the second a deflected strike from outside the area. Crystal Palace found a temporary lifeline through a Yeremy Pino free-kick that rebounded off Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Haaland completed his brace, and City's scoring, by rifling past Dean Henderson from close range after an intricate passing move. Despite an impressive attacking display, Maresca may have concerns about the chances City conceded, as Palace created several promising openings that went unpunished.
