Huddersfield Giants delivered a significant upset, defeating in-form Leigh 30-18 in the Betfred Super League. The Giants crossed for five tries, keeping the Leopards waiting to secure their place in the Super League play-offs.
Leigh initially took the lead with Owen Trout's try, but Huddersfield responded with tries from Harry Rushton and Taane Milne, establishing a 14-6 advantage by half-time. Niall Evalds extended the Giants' lead after the break.
Despite tries from Leigh's Umyla Hanley and Robbie Mulhern, Huddersfield's Cole Geyer scored twice, including a crucial try with six minutes remaining, to seal an impressive victory. This win marks Huddersfield's seventh of the season, with five of those coming in their last six matches, moving them to 12th in the table.
Leigh, who had won eight of their past nine games, would have secured a top-six spot with a victory. They remain fifth in the standings with two games left, still well-placed for the play-offs after St Helens' loss to Leeds.
