The Kansas City Chiefs maintained their perfect start to the season, moving to 4-0 after a hard-fought 30-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. This marked the first time in the long-standing rivalry, dating back to 1960, that both teams entered the contest with a 3-0 or better record.
The Raiders, under new head coach Klint Kubiak, showed significant improvement from their three-win 2025 season, holding a 13-10 lead at halftime. Kubiak expressed confidence at the half, telling CBS's Tracy Wolfson that his team would win the game.
However, the Chiefs turned the tide in the fourth quarter, with running back Kenneth Walker scoring two touchdowns to put Kansas City ahead 30-19. Despite a late surge from the Raiders, including a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Brock Bowers and a successful two-point conversion, Chiefs safety Xavier Nwankpa sealed the win with an interception of a Cousins pass with just 10 seconds remaining.
The 4-0 Chiefs are now considered back at the top of the NFL after a challenging 6-11 season in 2025. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been careful with the ball this season, with two interceptions alongside seven touchdown passes. The team's offense has also been bolstered by the arrival of Kenneth Walker, who has rushed for impressive yardage in his first four games.
