Christopher Nolan's historical epic, 'The Odyssey', is making a comeback to the majority of UK IMAX cinemas starting Friday, October 9. This return follows the abrupt end of Tom Cruise's satirical black comedy, 'Digger', which is concluding its IMAX run after just one week.
'Digger', co-written and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, reportedly cost an estimated $160 million to produce. However, it only grossed $20 million on its opening weekend, putting it on track to be one of Hollywood's biggest flops.
In contrast, 'The Odyssey' has been a massive success, with its first IMAX run being so popular that tickets were resold for hundreds on eBay. The film has now taken more than $1.7 billion globally, making it Nolan's most successful film.
While 'Digger' will still be shown once a day in a handful of UK IMAX cinemas, the focus will primarily be on 'The Odyssey'.
