Writer-director Claude Chabrol's 1969 film, 'La Femme Infidèle', has been rereleased. The film is also part of a Chabrol season at London's BFI Southbank.
The suspense thriller, which depicts a complex marriage where a husband suspects his wife of infidelity, was previously remade in 2002 as 'Unfaithful' by Adrian Lyne. It was also partly remade this year as 'Minotaur' by Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev.
'La Femme Infidèle' stars Stéphane Audran as Hélène, the unfaithful wife, and Michel Bouquet as her husband, Charles. The film explores Charles's growing suspicions about Hélène's frequent trips to Paris and the subsequent unraveling of their relationship.
