CMA investigates Pasta Evangelists over consumer review practices

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into Pasta Evangelists Limited regarding its practices for obtaining consumer reviews.

  • The CMA is investigating Pasta Evangelists' compliance with consumer protection law.
  • The investigation focuses on whether customers were offered discounts for 5-star reviews without disclosure.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched an investigation into Pasta Evangelists Limited concerning its methods for acquiring consumer reviews. The probe, which began on 26 March 2026, falls under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 (DMCC Act).

The CMA is examining whether Pasta Evangelists offered discounts on future orders in exchange for 5-star reviews on delivery apps, without making this arrangement clear to consumers. This practice could potentially mean that the reliability or representativeness of these ratings was not known to the public.

At this initial stage, the CMA will engage with Pasta Evangelists and gather evidence to determine if consumer protection law has been infringed. It should not be assumed at this point that Pasta Evangelists has infringed the law, and no finding has yet been made.
