Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is set to withdraw from the England squad for the upcoming Nations League matches, citing a minor injury. The 24-year-old had recently been recalled by manager Thomas Tuchel, having been controversially omitted from the Three Lions' World Cup squad.
Palmer's withdrawal means he will miss the extended international break, which includes four games for England. The Three Lions are scheduled to face World Cup winners Spain on Saturday, 26 September, before travelling to the Czech Republic on 29 September and Croatia on 3 October. They will then host the Czechs on 6 October.
This development follows Palmer playing the full match for Chelsea in their 3-0 defeat at Brentford on Friday. He has started six of Chelsea's seven games this season, playing the full 90 minutes in five, and has scored four goals while providing two assists.
