Comedian Max Olesker advocates for packing heavy for travel

Writer and comedian Max Olesker has shared his philosophy on travel packing, advocating for bringing a wide array of items rather than travelling light.

  • Max Olesker believes packing for travel should be an adventure, not a logistical exercise.
  • He recently packed two full suitcases for his Edinburgh Fringe show, "Max Olesker: Making the Cut."
  • Olesker's show is running at the Edinburgh Fringe until 30 August 2026.

Comedian and writer Max Olesker has expressed his view that packing light for travel is not the ideal approach. He argues that preparing for a trip should be an adventure in itself, rather than a focus on minimising weight.

Olesker recently travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe for his first solo theatre show, "Max Olesker: Making the Cut." For this journey, he packed extensively, including day and night outfits, gymwear, swimwear, a dressing gown, and multiple books.

He utilised a large Globe-Trotter suitcase, which he filled completely, and then packed an additional full suitcase as a precaution. His show is scheduled to run at the Edinburgh Fringe until 30 August 2026.
