Comedy duo Charly Clive and Ellen Robertson, who perform under the name Britney, are preparing to take two new shows to the Edinburgh Fringe festival this year. The pair will present their latest sketch show, Holy Mackerel!, and also act in a play written by Robertson called Jitters, in which Clive will play her comedy partner's stepmum-to-be.
This return to their sketch roots follows a period of increased individual profiles for both comedians. In December 2024, Clive was cast as Steve Carell’s professor daughter in the HBO campus comedy Rooster. Soon after, Robertson secured a role as Rachel Weisz’s lawyer daughter in Netflix’s Vladimir, another comedy set at a US university. Both series premiered in March 2026 to positive reviews and millions of viewers.
Clive and Robertson, both 33, have been performing sketch comedy together for the past decade, having bonded on a school trip 20 years ago. Their previous Edinburgh show, 2022’s Friends and Nothing More, was well-received.
