Conveyancing is seen by homebuyers as a greater impediment to a smooth property transaction than property chains, according to new research. A survey commissioned by Lyons Bowe found that 42% of respondents identified conveyancing as the biggest barrier, compared to 19% who pointed to property chains.
The findings highlight communication issues, with almost a quarter (23%) blaming slow communication between buyers' and sellers' conveyancers for delays during the legal process. Additionally, 49% of those surveyed believe conveyancers hold the most influence over whether a transaction progresses smoothly.
When asked what could have improved their most recent transaction, 24% of respondents wanted faster responses from and between conveyancers. A further 20% desired better communication among all parties involved.
