Cornelis, an AI infrastructure company, announced on Monday that it has secured $205 million in a funding round led by IAG Capital Partners. The company develops networking technology intended to enhance the communication efficiency of AI chips.
The company also unveiled its Active Compute Fabric product, a network technology designed to address the issue of GPU time being wasted while waiting for data. Cornelis aims for this networking fabric to enable chips to process and send information simultaneously.
Spun off from Intel in 2020, Cornelis is positioning itself against Nvidia by offering an open architecture. This approach allows customers to use various GPU and accelerator hardware with Cornelis's networking fabric. The company has already begun shipping its product and is developing a new generation, which is expected to be released later this year.
