Jade Goracy said she was "over the moon" after her partner, Alain Branquet, proposed to her during the recent partial solar eclipse. The proposal took place at the headland at Lihou, a location where the couple had one of their first dates.
Ms Goracy, who works in aviation safety, stated that Mr Branquet, a motor mechanic and business partner at a motorcycle company, later told her he had been planning the proposal since the start of the year. Photographer Ben Fiore, who had put out a call for islanders to record eclipse memories, worked with Mr Branquet for five days to plan the details.
The couple, both 30, have been dating for three years. They have not yet set a wedding date.
