Double murderer and rapist Simon Levy has pleaded not guilty to charges of attacking a guard at Belmarsh prison. The 41-year-old, who is serving a whole life sentence, denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional suffocation at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The alleged incident involving prison guard Paul Dunne reportedly took place on 18 February. Prosecutor David Burns told the court that Levy allegedly stabbed Mr Dunne multiple times with a pen to the arm and neck, before grabbing him around the throat.
Levy's lawyer, Jason Lartey, stated in court that his client denies assaulting the officer or grabbing him by the throat. The case has been referred to Inner London Crown Court, with a hearing scheduled for 14 September.
Last week, Levy was jailed for the murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo and Sheryl Wilkins, and for raping a third woman. He had previously been imprisoned for other sexual assaults.
