Couple jailed for 17 years for manslaughter of two men

Adina Mihai and Madalin Dumitru have each been jailed for 17 years for the manslaughter of two men they drugged and robbed, and for poisoning two other victims.

  • Adina Mihai, 31, and Madalin Dumitru, 30, were sentenced to 17 years each for manslaughter and poisoning.
  • The couple drugged men with GBL after Mihai advertised sexual services online, then stole their property.
  • Evidence included a TikTok video, wine glasses, voice notes, and data from a pacemaker.

Adina Mihai, 31, and Madalin Dumitru, 30, have each been jailed for 17 years for the manslaughter of Gary Mouat, 37, and Malcolm King, 80. The Romanian nationals, formerly of Ilford, east London, also pleaded guilty to poisoning two other victims who survived.

The pair's crimes involved Mihai posing as a sex worker online to meet men at their homes. She would then secretly spike their drinks with gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) to render them unconscious before stealing cash, jewellery, and other valuables. Dumitru waited nearby in a car, reportedly armed with weapons.

Gary Mouat was found dead in Banbury in July 2025 after being fatally drugged. Malcolm King's death in Bagendon, Gloucestershire, in August 2024, initially believed to be non-suspicious due to a chronic heart condition, was later linked to GBL poisoning after a national police bulletin.

Key evidence in the investigation included a TikTok video filmed by Mihai, wine glasses found at crime scenes, voice notes, and precise data from Malcolm King's pacemaker. Police recovered a baseball bat, a knife, alcohol, GBL, and a stolen watch from the couple's car upon their arrest in Essex on 31 July.

Julian Evans KC, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court that Mihai and Dumitru "acted together, and with a shared intention, one they had agreed upon in advance." Det Insp Michael Roddy, senior investigating officer for Thames Valley Police, said investigators believe the couple assumed victims would be too embarrassed to report the crimes.
