A couple who decided to tie the knot at Latitude Festival, citing the event's unique atmosphere, celebrated their wedding with friends and family at the Suffolk music and arts gathering this past Friday. Craig Brown, 33, and Tara Sweeting, 29, officially became husband and wife on Thursday at Lowestoft Register Office, before heading to Henham Park for their special festival ceremony.
The celebratory event took place in front of the Into The Woods stage, where the new Mr and Mrs Brown exchanged vows and rings. More than 30 guests watched as the couple affirmed their commitment, with Tara, dressed in a white lace wedding gown, expressing her joy at being able to share her feelings with Craig. She noted that she had been emotional throughout the ceremony, despite believing she had no tears left after the legal proceedings.
The idea to marry at Latitude, which has been held for two decades, came to the couple during last year's festival. Tara explained that they were engaged but had no specific wedding plans until they realised Latitude felt like the 'right' place for them. She described the festival as having "so much love in the air" – for different people, families, and party-goers alike – convincing them that it was the ideal setting for their nuptials.
Prior to their festival celebration, Craig and Tara, who mentioned they had a modest budget for their big day, legally wed on Thursday. Following the register office ceremony, they enjoyed a meal with 15 relatives and friends. They then travelled to Latitude, staying overnight in a campervan before their highly anticipated festival ceremony. Craig also shared his emotions, stating he had been crying all morning and that the unique celebration was "very us".
The newlyweds plan to continue their celebrations throughout the weekend at the festival, enjoying champagne and the vibrant atmosphere. Craig affirmed that while nothing would change now they were married, they fully intend to return to Latitude for their anniversaries, cementing the festival's place in their love story.
