Coventry City has agreed a deal worth approximately £17m for Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi. The Sky Blues are expected to finalise the transfer before their Premier League return match against Arsenal on Friday.
Awoniyi, 29, joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 for £17.2m, becoming their then-record signing. He scored 23 goals in 103 appearances for Forest, but was not included in last season's Europa League squad and started only three games, scoring four goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.
Coventry City is preparing for its first Premier League season in 25 years. The club has also re-signed midfielder Gus Hamer and goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, and brought in winger Loum Tchaouna, defender Aurele Amenda, and Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi.
