A number of CrossCountry rail services have been cancelled on Sunday, 6 September 2026, due to a shortage of train drivers. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.
Services heading out of Birmingham to Reading, Newcastle, and Nottingham will not run. Services into Birmingham from Nottingham, Newcastle, Paignton, Bournemouth, Manchester Piccadilly, and Bristol Temple Meads are also cancelled.
Further cancellations affect some trains from Aberdeen, Cardiff Central, York, Sheffield, Glasgow Central, Dundee, and Plymouth. Some remaining services will make extra stops to accommodate passengers from cancelled trains.
