Ben White, an amateur gardener from Maldon in Essex, is preparing his giant pumpkin, named Gladys, for an RHS competition. The pumpkin currently weighs about 1,200lb (544kg) and is still increasing in size.
Gladys is scheduled to compete at the RHS Malvern Autumn Show over the last weekend of September. Mr White is documenting the pumpkin's progress on social media to raise funds for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance charity.
The pumpkin was pollinated on 30 June and at its peak was growing 40lb (18kg) a day. Mr White, who works as an underfloor heating designer, grows vegetables in a 60ft (18m) polytunnel at a local farm in his spare time.
